The Golden Section

Some posts ago I mentioned the Persian Greys being the only double color have. Well. actually I lied… Sorry for that.

There is also the Golden Glow that I, recently, could get. In fact the 2 Golden Glows  slightly differ from one another.

One of them has the so called PBX button on its back. The other one has a very nice French dial face. So reasons enough to keep them both. Again…

New Members Coming In

A very special week sofar. Besides 2 interesting Ericofons I ran into, I was able to track down 3 nice phones for my own collection. A Sandalwood with an old ear-piece, an ‘undefined blue’ new ear-piece model and an Orange 700 model. You can see them below but the pictures are not mine.

The Sandalwood phone has a few spots, but nothing to worry about, I think. I did not have the old ear-piece in this color yet. Update: Great phone. Looks nice and shiny after some treatment.

The blue phone is a special case in more than one way. There is a stain that needs some treatment. I do not think it is a nasty one, but it needs to be removed. But the most exciting part is that I do not have a clue on the exact color.  It is either Aqua Mist or Nordic Blue. I hope for the latter, but both are good. Update: it is a Wedgewood, and I sure did not expect that.  🙁  Nice detail is that it came with a country specific dial face. I’ll make it like brandnew and resell it I guess. Should be okay.

The orange 700 model is in good shape and seems to be functioning. This is the first orange Ericofon I have. The 600 model from the BPO is still on the wishlist. Update: The orange is a great phone. Only need to get a new gasket.

Sanding The Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal phone that I recently received was, as expected, not that white from the outside. It was ‘yellowed’ so I started to sand it off today.  It is hard to grab in a picture, but I tried to show the difference halfway the process.

It survived the sanding process and it is just great! See the result below. A Taj Mahal… bright white.

By the way, the phone in the pictures here is not the Taj Mahal from the post below, the one with the crack. This in fact is my second (old ear-piece) Taj Mahal. When I reworked the other one I forgot to take pictures. Too busy sanding and polishing. That one looks nice too, but this one is much better. The discoloring of the first one was much deeper into the phones’ surface and not totally gone after restoration.

Now I got another Taj Mahal on its way… an old case. Update: it turned out to be a Candle Glow old case. The case is not yellowed at all but has the normal yellow/white color of the Candle Glow.

Update With Some Pictures

Well, the collection is slowly growing. At this moment I have 20 different phones and number 21 and 22 are on their way. In the Netherlands I found the Taj Mahal (new case with new ear-piece) and in the US I just bought the Petal Pink (new case with old ear-piece, as I already have the new ear-piece in this color).

The Taj Mahal was not in too good shape but it was a bargain. This one probably needs a rough sanding job. I have done that before and the result is sometimes surprisingly good. There is also a crack that needs to be worked on, so let’s see what comes out.

The picture on the left are all cases with the new ear-piece. The picture on the right shows the old cases, which I only have 2, and new cases with the old ear-piece. It is getting kinda complex now 😉
